I started photographing families in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 2012. I had no idea that thirteen years later I’d be writing this post from a Hawaiian island, telling you that I’m packing my camera bags and moving to Boulder, Colorado.

But here we are. And I couldn’t be more ready.

From Ukraine to the World —

and Finally to Colorado

My photography journey has taken me across continents. After years of shooting families, weddings, and portraits in Ukraine, I moved to Germany, then to California, and eventually landed on Oahu — where something unexpected happened.

My business took off in a way I never planned. Families started finding me not just from Hawaii, but from all over the world. Clients flew in from Tokyo, New York, London, and Sydney — many of them referred by someone who once stood in front of my camera on this island. Word of mouth traveled across oceans. My calendar filled with people I’d never met but instantly connected with.

I photographed them at golden hour in Kualoa Ranch. At sunrise on secret beaches. In the soft green light of island mornings. I watched babies become toddlers. I captured proposals, anniversaries, families of two becoming families of three.

Leaving Oahu hurts. I won’t pretend it doesn’t.

Why Boulder — and Why It Feels Like Home Already

I have loved mountains my entire life. There’s a particular silence in them, a quality of light that doesn’t exist anywhere else.

Boulder, Colorado is the kind of place that matches something I carry inside me. It’s active, creative, fiercely close to nature. People there hike before breakfast, raise adventurous kids, and care deeply about how they live. They value authenticity — which is exactly what I bring to every single session.

I’m dreaming about Chautauqua Park at golden hour, the Flatirons turning pink at sunrise, families running through golden fields at South Mesa Trailhead and NCAR Trail. I’m imagining winter sessions in the snow near Rocky Mountain National Park, golden aspen trees along Eldorado Canyon, couples at Lost Gulch Overlook with the entire Front Range behind them.

I’m dreaming about Pearl Street for urban lifestyle sessions. About Waneka Lake at dusk with mountain reflections on the water. About Eben G. Fine Park along Boulder Creek, kids splashing in the water while parents laugh.

And honestly? I’m dreaming about getting back on a bicycle. Four years without one is long enough.
